Class 3 Camp: Three Days of Adventure, Discovery and Joy

Class 3 Camp: Three Days of Adventure, Discovery and Joy

Class 3 enjoyed a memorable three-day camp filled with outdoor exploration, teamwork and plenty of laughter. From the moment we arrived, the students embraced the experience with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Our first afternoon was spent setting up tents and settling into our campsite among the tea-tree and coastal heath. For many students this was their first time pitching a tent independently, and despite a bit of wild weather, they rose to the challenge with determination and a great sense of humour.

Once camp was established, we headed off on an orientation walk that wound past the beach, dunes and rocky shoreline. The students loved exploring the sand, creating sculptures and discovering shells and natural treasures along the way.

Each day included long beach walks and time to play by the water. One of the highlights was our shoreline wander where the students learned about safe rockpool exploration before inventing their own games, including the much-loved “seaweed is lava.” Their creativity and excitement made even the smallest discoveries feel magical.

Afternoons were filled with water play in the sheltered shallows near the jetty. Frisbees flew, splashes erupted and joyful shouts carried across the water. Even when the chill set in, the group spirit stayed high as students headed to the playground for one last burst of energy before warm showers and dinner.

Around camp, mealtimes were full of teamwork and pride. Students helped cook for the whole group each day, learning responsibility and the importance of contributing to the community. Evening “golden moments” gave everyone a chance to reflect on their favourite parts of the day, and by the second night the group was happily settled and sleeping soundly.

On the final day we visited a nearby farm, which was an absolute delight. Students fed lambs and calves, held baby goats, met talkative birds, and learned about the many animals that live and work on the farm. This hands-on experience was a gentle and heartwarming way to end our adventure.

The Class 3 camp was a wonderful introduction to independent camping and outdoor learning. Students returned proud of themselves, full of stories, and excited for future camps. It was a joy to see them grow in confidence, cooperation and resilience over just a few days.

We look forward to many more adventures ahead!
