Wellbeing & Inclusion

At Sophia Mundi we deeply value inclusivity and diversity within our school community. We recognise the significance of these values in fostering a positive, kind, and tolerant school culture, which is integral to our ethos.

Active student involvement and a sense of community spirit are fundamental aspects of our educational approach. We encourage students to actively participate in every aspect of their school day, fostering a strong sense of belonging and unity.

These values are supported both in our day-to-day teaching and learning in the classroom and through our wellbeing and inclusion programs.

In the Primary School

The class teacher takes a coordinating and pastoral responsibility for the class. This is supported by the teacher working in three-year cycles with the class.

The Wellbeing Officer supports the class teacher and works directly and discretely with individual students when needed.

The Learning Support Team, headed by our Inclusion Coordinator, assists individuals and small groups to develop a positive relationship with learning, and support all students in their educational progress.

In the Secondary School

A class guardian takes on a pastoral responsibility for the class and maintains their relationship with the class and their parents in three-year cycles (year 7-9, year 10-12).

The Life Skills program begins in the secondary school. Students have weekly sessions to identify and discuss strategies across a range of relevant issues and topics for them, including Cyber safety, Gender and Sexuality, Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships, Drug Education and many other topics. This program also engages a number of guest speakers and organisations.

The Wellbeing Officer and Guardian work directly and with students either 1:1 or in small groups to support their mental health and wellbeing.

The Learning Support Team, headed by our Inclusion Coordinator, assists individuals and small groups to develop a positive relationship with learning, and supports all students in their educational progress. This includes assisting the Class Guardians with Student Support Group meetings and writing Individual Learning Plans.

The Careers Counsellor supports student in the senior secondary with career pathways, and tertiary entrance.

A number of independent allied health professionals  work alongside the school, including an occupational therapist, speech pathologist and an art therapist.  While independent of the school, these specialists work with the selected students, parents and their class teachers to provide tailored and integrated support. These valuable connections provide us with expertise and experience, enhancing our capacity to meet the diverse needs of our students.
