As the Sun reaches its lowest zenith, the light and warmth of the earth are dwindling. The inward turning season of Winter brings an awakening of the creativity, the soul of the Human Being. So the Winter Spiral is a quiet and reverent recognition of the inner light that we carry, when nature all around us is falling away.
On Thursday, 21 June 2018, we celebrate our Winter Spiral. A spiral made of branches and foliage will be arranged in a darkened area. Class by class, one by one, the children will walk into the spiral, light their candles from the central flame and arrange them on the spiral. The timetable is as follows:
9:00 – 9:20am Class 1
9:20 – 9:50am Class 2
9:50 – 10:00am Class 3
10:00 – 10:20am Class 4
10:20 – 10:40am Class 5
10:40 – 11:00am Class 6
11:00 – 11:30am Class 7
11:30 – 11:50am Class 8
11:50 – 12:10pm Class 9 & 10
12:10 – 12:30pm Class 11 & 12
Eventually the entire school will have added their light. Parents are invited to see their class carry out this beautiful ritual.
Available parents in the Primary School are asked to sing as their children enter the Spiral. We will have a morning sing along to support parents in learning the winter songs – Monday and Tuesday in the Courtyard from 8.30-8.40 am. It would be wonderful if you could join us in the build up to the event.
