On Tuesday May 2nd Classes 6-10 travelled to the Yarra Valley bound for Little Yarra Steiner School (LYSS) to participate in the Cross Country Run. The two busloads carrying students head out of the city and the view soon changed from urban sprawl to rolling hills as the Yarra Valley came into sight. The day was sunny and mild, but appeared misty and smoky from the seasonal burning off in the Yarra Valley.
Upon arrival the LYSS staff greeted the Sophia Mundi team warmly, providing a run-down of the day’s events. A 2 kilometre route ensued, circling the beautiful school. The team walked through grapevines, up driveways and around garden’s and orchards. Some students saw a snake which was extremely exciting.
After lunch students gathered at the big oval and were marshalled class-by-class to the starting line. Class 10 took off and students from both schools met and ran together. Then Class 9, Class 8 and so on until our exuberant Class 6’s closed the show.
Students had a choice to walk or run but all were required to attend the event.
I’d like to congratulate all the students below who put in a great effort on the day in the following age categories.
