Recent Changes to Sophia Mundi Steiner School Board Composition

Recent Changes to Sophia Mundi Steiner School Board Composition

Dear Sophia Mundi Community,

On behalf of the Sophia Mundi Board, I’d like to update you on some recent changes in the Board’s composition.

Over 2018, we have farewelled three long term Board members: Eleni Kondos, Robin Power and Emrys Nekvapil. These members have served the Board and the school community with determination and industriousness, motivated by warm goodwill and love for the school. Repeating what the remaining Board directors have already shared with Eleni, Robin and Emrys: we are grateful and indebted for all your good works over many years to sustain good governance and support a vibrant school community at Sophia Mundi.

Our current Board constellation includes Jennifer West, Darren Scotti, Nicholas Conigrave, Patrick Jost and myself (now as Chair). You are welcome to view our profiles on the School’s website.

Patrick is our newest director, having joined the Board early this year after moving from Luxembourg to Melbourne in 2017. He has two children at Sophia Mundi, Lea and Matthias, in Classes 4 and 1.

We expect to welcome other new directors to the Board soon and I will keep you updated as this occurs. The Board’s role within Sophia Mundi is to ensure that the school complies with legislation and regulation, has sound finances and a well-steered strategic direction. As you will all be aware, the school community is currently engaged in our annual renewal of the  in consultations with the teachers, parents and management. Your collective voices within this annual activity enrich the School Improvement Plan and its outcomes.

Final school community consultations will occur over Spring, followed by a whole school meeting in Term 4. The resultant School Improvement Plan will focus our vision and activities for the School in 2019 and beyond.

Please do involve yourself in upcoming forums to ensure the SIP reflects the School as a whole.

Warmly,
Kerry Laughton
Sophia Mundi Board Chair
