Dear Parents,
The school has received official notification that the Government has raised the National Terrorism
Public Alert from MEDIUM to HIGH based on the increased likelihood of a terrorist attack. In the
light of this notification there are several things that the school needs to do to ensure the children’s
safety and the communication of any changes to the emergency procedures.
What does this mean for Sophia Mundi?
• Changes to the Emergency Management Plan.
• Re- evaluation of Risk Assessment.
• Re- defining Risk Management.
• Induction processes for students, staff (including contractors) and parents
When do these changes happen?
• The process of accommodating these changes has begun
• There will be notifications of any procedures added to the Emergency Management Plan,
published in the school newsletter.
When changes are introduced they will be communicated to the parent body via the school
newsletter, the school website or a direct letter to the community.
In general I would ask everyone to just remain vigilant and report anything that may seem out of the
ordinary. Any reports can be directed to myself or the front desk.
Today is the day that we say farewell to the Yr 12 students and that they say farewell to the school.
They step across from student to Alumni. This is always a significant moment in the senior student’s
lives as they move out of the protective environment of the school and step into the world. We wish
them all the very best for their future endeavours and thank them for their contributions to the
narrative of Sophia Mundi.
While we talk of the uncertain future and how schools prepare students for that unknown future we
can reflect on the human qualities that we have developed over the years and how we can rely on
these qualities to carry us confidently into our life story.
A special thank you, to the parents of these wonderful young individuals, who have invested in their
educational journey and who have carried the trust in the school to facilitate this life experience.
Thank you also to the students themselves for their dedication and contribution to the nature of the
school and the personal investment that they have made in their own abilities, talents and efforts.
Well done and congratulations on an incredible journey.
Go Well.
Norman.
