Tonight we are holding our Cyber Safety information evening. This is a really important opportunity to raise awareness of the issues which young people face online and whilst using their mobile phones. The evening is run by ThinkUKnow Australia, an internet safety initiative.
The evening is a fantastic chance to learn more about how young people have fun online, how you can help them stay in control on the net and how to report a problem. All parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.

“Recently, the Australian Government commissioned a range of youth cyberbullying research projects. The reports can be viewed on the Department of Communications website.

The attached document provides an explanation about Australian government resources for protecting children online, with a direct link and instructions for downloading and installing the Cybersafety Help Button.
Once installed, this Help Button launches the Cybersafety Help and Advice website portal, where users can access options to talk to someone about online issues that are of concern, report inappropriate online content or behaviours, and learn how to stay safe online.
What is #GameOn?
A further initiative is the Australian Communications and Media Authority upcoming launch of Cybersmart’s latest video resource #GameOn on Thursday 16 October 2014.
This is a cybersafety video series following the online experiences of a group of lower secondary students. Over five short episodes, students find themselves in online situations such as cyberbullying, excessive gaming, sharing passwords, free downloads, online,friendships that catch them off-guard and teach them the consequences of making poor
#GameOn is accompanied by discussion guides, lesson plans, character reflection interviews and a behind the scenes ‘making-of’ video.
