Compassion and Forgiveness
You cannot forgive others, lest yourself forgive
As, self-forgiveness opens wide the door to love
Remember, love is our prime directive
Brought down as Brilliant Light by God Above
Matt opened the meeting with a small welcome, meditation exercise and poem
Brigitte delivered the session for the day.
She talked about bringing attention to our “most important work” as parents
Children are not a distraction from more important work.
They are the most important work.”
C S Lewis
She presented elements of Otto Scharmer‘s Theory U to demonstrate that our everyday life is full of distractions which often keep us from focusing what matters most to us.
Theory U proposes that the quality of the results that we create in any kind of social system is a function of the quality of awareness, attention, or consciousness that the participants in the system operate from.
She discussed the challenge of the Voice of Judgement, Voice of Cynicism and Voice of Fear.
“The 4 Distractions” show the challenge and solutions to these distractions, i.e. the practice of mindfulness and deep listening.
She also discussed the 4 Distractions from being truly present in the moment.
Brigitte guided us through a mindfulness practice.
Our group discussion lead to the topic for next week’s conversation, which Jennifer has agreed to lead, being “The Here and Now”.
