To Our valued Alumni
Sophia Mundi was established in 1985 and now has a substantial number of Alumni. We know that many of you still keep in touch and we hope to have a formal inauguration of our Alumni group in the future. This would be an exciting step for our school and a highlight in our calendar.
You have all moved out into the world and made your way into diverse walks of life. Some work or live ‘Round the World’, some are much closer. Some of you have your own families and some are returning to Sophia Mundi as parents. It is inspiring for us to hear your stories and to celebrate how each one has grown through their endeavours.
Over recent years our graduating students have been offered tertiary places in a range of courses including: Arts (Photography), Applied Design, Social Sciences, Social Work, Emergency Medicine, Architectural Drafting, Resort Management, Liberal Arts, Teaching, Homeopathy, Sound Engineering, Nursing, Marketing, Multimedia Arts. Others have gone on to apprenticeships and other workplaces that suit their talents. We know that each one of you has your own story.
Our Alumni network can foster such things as:
- keeping alumni of Sophia Mundi in touch with each other
- maintaining your active interest in the school
- organising professional, networking and social activities for alumni
- communicating alumni views and interests back to the school
- playing an active part in welcoming recent graduates
- mobilising alumni for particular help to the school, (for example, talking to senior students about your experiences post school, advising students about aspects of study or life on a tertiary campus)
- contributing to scholarships, the building fund and other opportunities for donating to the school
- offering voluntary assistance to the school with organizing events (eg reunions and other functions)

We held our "Farewell to Nicholson Street" celebration on 11 December 2011 – it was a lovely day and an opportunity for many of our current staff, parents and students to meet some of our Alumni: past students, parents and staff. It was exciting to meet some of the children who will hopefully soon be second generation Sophia Mundi students!
Thank you to Wendy, Quincy, Mary and Hester for your marvellous recollections of the formation and early years of Sophia Mundi, to Rob for your update on the school's status and current plans and to Dante, Margueritte, Arneke and Wendy for releasing white homing pigeons on the day. Thanks Helen, Judy, Denielle, Luisa and Suzanne for all your organisation, to Rowan for stepping in as MC, to Teresa for the marvellous watercolour of Nicholson Street and finally to Brendan and the team who helped set up and pack up.
